Kade is my True Hero.

On Friday, Aug. 10th we attended the Iowa State Fair to have a family day, but more importantly to watch Kade get presented with the Governor's Life Saving Award.  He was 1 of 18 that were honored during the presentation.  After Heath's electrocution accident, which has almost been a year ago already, I nominated him for this award.  We were interviewed at home by a Iowa State Patrol officer and told we would be notified if Kade would receive this award.  Honestly, I completely forgot about it and then one day in the mail we got the letter notifying us that Kade was chosen to receive the award.  At this point, Kade had no idea that we had even nominated him for it.  We let him read the letter and he was so excited and surprised!
A lot of family was able to attend the award ceremony, which was very nice.  It was really neat hearing the other stories and a little emotional.  After the ceremony, Kade got to have his picture taken with Governor Branstad and then got interviewed by the Des Moines Register and KCCI Channel 8.
The rest of the day was spent walking around the fair and enjoying all the sites, smells, tastes, and sounds!  Sis loved the playground area, looking at the snakes, and seeing the farm animals.  The weather was fantastic and just a great day overall!

I couldn't be more proud and grateful of this lovebug.
Kade was sooo happy his big bro could make it.
